I wrote a patch that makes a little bit of headway for this.

It's not as complete as it could be, but once it's part of LilyPond, I'll give your examples a spin (remind me if I forget) and see if they're improved.

I submitted a patch that does some collision avoidance in these cases - I'll keep you posted.
