lilypond can most definitely accept backslashes:

to split long lines. Note that a backslash \ is not the same as a
forward slash:

which *cannot* be used to split lines.
Please fix the docs; include it in the same @example as the
previous ones.

-dhelp already discusses pixmap-format, so no change needed here.
