If you are really aiming for *independent* voices, don't use a score,
use seperate parts. You could use cues to show dependancies between
parts.
Otherwise, you could possible use proportional music, and constructs
like
{ s2 bes''1*2\fermata \breathe s4 c''1*3/2\fermata ... }
to "place" the notes.
