In addition, some scheme commands are disabled on LSR due to security 
concerns (see --safe in the manual about command-line options).

Bruce, please reconsider giving 2.8 a try.  Updating from 2.4 to 2.8 
should not cause too many problems... or at the very least, try 
installing 2.8 in a separate location.
