Hello,

sometimes I must use embedded postscript to draw some musical symbols that the Feta font doesn't have. One example is Unicode symbol 1D1A6, called Hauptstimme. If you look at it (http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U1D100.pdf), you can see, that it's actually quite simple, containing only straight lines. But drawing it by typing postscript commands can be impossible. If there are curves, it is much more problematic. Actually designing visually is a must. So I've invented a way to create custom symbols:

- I use Inkscape (http://www.inkscape.org) for drawing. It can import and/or trace bitmaps and simplify curves. And it can export EPS. - After drawing/tracing the symbol I simplify and move it to 0,0 to have an EPS as simple as possible. - The EPS it creates still contains lots of unneccessary things (for example setting color and so on). I purge them. - A play with scale and translate to have the symbol scaled and placed to what I want.

So I'm quite curious, if you've invented other ways, found other tools for your embedded postscripts.

Bert
