That is far from trivial.  How would someone engraving by hand do it?
He would probably do it according to the longest simultaneous measure.

If you take the longest simultaneous measures and construct a dummy
score, make it invisible and without vertical space, and add it to both
parts, that should do it.  You could do that either by copying your
notes or by using a single stave and adding horizontal space to the
measures in it until you had a fit.

There may be a more elegant programmer's solution, which Mats will no
doubt come up with.  A programmer's solution *could* be more compact by
shortening some measures and moving them to different lines on the same
page, maybe.  I don't think that would be very desirable, though.

It seems to me that this format has the disadvantages of both score and
parts and the advantages of neither.  Has this been done before?  isn't
it better to get used to a four stave system?  I'm not trying to give
you a hard time, I'm really curious.  daveA
