I think that the final part of that file should look like this:
\notes{
\context Staff = staffa {
\clef violin
\time 2/2
\key d \minor
<
{\skip 1*25 \bar "|."}
\ca
>
}
}
You want to have the \skip and the actual music occuring at the same time,
so you need to use < skip music > .
(in 1.7.x, that should probably be << skip music >> )
