Alternately, you can do "make web-doc" from the root of the source tree and
then look in Documentation/out-www/index.html (and then click on "user
manual")
Or, if you're using binaries, you could look in /usr/share/doc/lilyopnd
(you might need to install something like lilypond-doc though; the packager
may have split up LilyPond into the program executables and the documentation).
