That works great, esp combined with \voiceOne, \voiceTwo, \tieDown and
\tieUp:

<{\voiceOne \tieDown c c c~ c}\\{\voiceOne  e~ e e e}>

I get some:

warning: Too many clashing notecolumns.  Ignoring them.

though, but I guess those can just be ignored...
