That's exactly what I think that the issue is:

asking the group (you, in this case), for support. If only to get a
fresh opinion on what needs improving most. Best would be, if someone
(you?) would be willing to provide some of the missing bits; the
things that you had to find out the hard way, and work to integrate
them into the manual.
