Interesting: as it happens, redhat 7.2 (and 7.1) had lots of problems
with printing as well. Specifically, my laserjet would print the last
page of a job only when the next job was processed. You got the PCL
init strings for the next job on that last page.  It's been fixed for
me with the latest updates, though.
