Though, honestly, perhaps you should wait until 2.18. is out. I still hope it's coming soon.
Step 1 might be problematic. Recently I had difficulties to contact Seba successfully (about other LSR-problems). At the time I initiated the last round of LSR-upgrade Phil Holmes did this for me.
Though you may want to try steps 2-4, simply to get an impression about the amount of work.
