I wouldn't object to having something in the CG, but makelsr.py
ends with this:

Unsafe files printed in lsr-unsafe.txt: CHECK MANUALLY!
  git add Documentation/snippets/*.ly
  xargs git diff HEAD < lsr-unsafe.txt


That would have handled the untracked files.
