This is (probably) perfect candidate for the snippets.  I'll copy 
input/regressions/fret-diagrams.ly to input/new/guitar/fret-diagrams.ly 
 once the main patch has been applied.

In general, don't be shy about adding extra input/new/ files, even if 
they're a simple copy of the regression test.  Users will not (and 
should not) be looking at the reg tests; anything useful should be in 
LSR (which of course won't work for this new code, since LSR tracks the 
old stable version) or input/new/  (which will be placed in LSR once it 
supports those features).
