specifying noteheads within chord using override NoteHead #'style?

Hello

I am using override NoteHead #'style to change noteheads.  But it seems 
this cannot be done within a chord (for ex., a chord with both a cross 
notehead and a standard notehead ).

Can someone either confirm this as expected behavior or suggest the 
proper way to do this?
