hi. i need to place rests in particular vertical locations to avoid
collisions. something like a4\rest works great for non-whole measure
rests. but i'd like an equivalent for a whole measure rest that is
centered within a measure.
also, just a comment on a previous post: someone mentioned that it
would be nice for an option for rests to be vertically aligned as cues
to the next note. i second that idea with a small refinement: if that
vertical location causes a collision with another note, revert to
lily's current algorithm for resolving the collisions. in the stuff
i've typeset, lily seems to do a good job of making sure rests and
notes don't collide, but does less well in other cases, like rests
against other rests, etc. i'm sure this is simplifying things a great
deal.
