since version 2.17.4 you have to explicitly define the responsum in  
\lyricmode to use it later in \lyricmode:

  responsum = \lyricmode { \markup{ \bold \fontsize #-1 "℟." }

before you simply could write

  responsum = \markup{ \bold \fontsize #-1 "℟." }

according to David this is likely a regression, s.
