Now compare with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtceiojf1B8#t=132s :) Clearly the huge amount of rubato in this piece means a MIDI rendering is never going to sound anything but awful based on mathematics alone. But it proves that your code is working perfectly, and I have much higher hopes for samba and jazz swing which don't have any rubato most of the time.
