Your example provides a nice view of notes tied with a slur line but does not show a comparable view in the same hand of two notes slurred together. Your chord example is not proof either, of course if you want the chord tied you would draw a line from every note to every other note. They would be the same as slur lines and they would mean the chord was tied. Your explanation that printers would use a different approach is most informative but again I refer to my experience of reading printed music for over 40 years. If printers used to make a difference between a tie between two notes and a slur then I can only respect your decision; I am saying that I can see no difference in printed music and it causes me no problems. I can't think of an occasion where the composer wanted two notes the same slurred and not tied.
