Summary: collision of notehead and stems
Comment #2 on issue 2196 by address@hidden: collision of notehead and
stems
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=2196
Just for the benefit of anybody searching through bug reports to solve
similar challenges, (1) Presumably there are other not-shown voices below,
otherwise one voice could be the stem-down voiceTwo (2) Normally the outer
voice, the 'a', is voiceOne and the inner notes voiceThree, in which case
LilyPond puts the beam around the 'a' (avoiding collisions, but yucky) (3)
the human in charge can decide it is best to move the note out of position
and override as shown in the manual under force-hshift.
Regarding the request, the 'a' would shift right if it collided with
another 'a' in voiceThree, so I am toying with the idea of shifting later
voices fully out of the column of inner voices, when the voices cross into
the reverse of their usual relative pitches.
