I don't get it with this bug.  If I use the patch at the end of this
mail, my testsuite still passes (albeit, tested linux only).
How can I expose it?

Ah, okay we're talking about different bugs then.  I'm not sure
what the bug is that you mean, but I was refering to how you
need to have an installed libdlloader.la even though libdlloader
is completely present in memory (as a preloaded library).  You
can expose that one by doing a normal build and install, and
removing all libdlloader.la from libltdl's search path.  Maybe
this won't affect the patches you're working on right now after
all, but since we are conciously delaying 2.0 by another month
or so, we might as well fix this one too.
