If you don't mind a steep learning curve, then you might find arch to
be more agreeable.  Advantages for me are that I can continue to work
unhindered from my laptop when I am disconnected from the network, and
then synch the server when I next connect; history works across file
renames; directories are under source control; http:// is a perfectly
good server (though I use sftp for security too) so there is no need
for a dedicated port and server; and best of all advanced merging between
branches works easily and correctly.  Also the whole thing is decentralized,
so you can take a branch off my tree, and host it on your server, and we
can merge patches back and forth between us automatically instead of via
a mailing list...
