Thanks! Looks good by inspection, I will test it and apply later if
nothing comes up.

You should use make check anyway just to test for regressions (which is
what I will do before committing).  The test coverage in libtool is not
very good though :-(

If you have time please write a test, either within one of the existing
demo subprojects, or as a new, say, linkdemo subproject if that isn't
possible.  For bonus marks, feel free to write an Autotest test for
piecewise linking... there is commented out infrastructure for Autotest
in Libtool, and my next big job after the next release will be to
convert Libtool's tests over to Autotest.
