Agreed. Really, why not just *allow* unrecognized options? The user
surely supplied them for a reason, and not all compilers have -Wl,
equivalents. (GCC is not an option when you need ABI compatibility
with certain vendor C++ compilers, and one can't effectively pass
-XCClinker to configure.)
