It's not broken. libreboot is. It's a long-standing issue that not all
screens are compatible. It's fixable, it just hasn't been done yet.
it's one of many issues that need to be fixed. It will be eventually.
check the docs.

Get an X200 or T400/T500. I recently upgraded to this from a T60, it's
much better. (note: screen compatibility issues also exist on
T400/T500. that too is being worked on - on a much higher priority.
There's a T500 that I want to use with a nice screen on it, and the
screen isn't compatible yet)
