The following message is a courtesy copy of an article
that has been posted to comp.unix.aix as well.

I started an AIX driver for libcdio
(http://www.gnu.org/software/libcdio). It isn't very good. In fact it
is mosly broken and I could use help.

Is there any good documentation on how to access a CD-ROM on AIX from
a user level such as to read the CD? Right now it seems that you have
to be root to even open the CD. Many of the SCSI passthrough commands
don't seem to work, although a couple do.

If there is no progress on the AIX driver before the next libcdio
release, it will be pulled. libcdio does compile fine otherwise for
image drivers (cdrdao, nrg, bin/cue).
