Good point about avoiding a dependency to kdebase. But instead of using kdesu,
you could just add the parameter
X-KDE-Username=root
to the end of the kportage.desktop file. That worked for me (I think it
automatically invokes kdesu if it's available), and I don't see that this adds
a dependency for kdebase. (Besides, a .desktop file is really only useful if
you have kdebase installed, right?)

Summary: kportage menu entry is in wrong category and should use kdesu
Original Submission: KPortage should not be placed in the KDE "Applications"
group. I think the "System" group makes much more sense, since that is where
other system configuration tools are stored, such as KPackage.
Also, when you run click the KPackage menu item, it is not run as root, so the
menu item is useless for normal users. (I have no reason to run KPackage unless
I am root.) The user has to change the menu entry manually and prepend "kdesu"
to the command so the menu item is useful. The user should not have to make
this, not using change; "kdesu" should be prepended to the kportage command in
the menu by default.

Moved KPortage to System. I just was too lazy in the past to do it ;)
Concerning kdesu, we decided to not run KPortage with kdesu by default, because
we didn't want to have a dependency to kdebase. There are other possibilities
to become root so it should not be forced to use kdesu.
