It's clearly a bug in the compression routine, where it looks like
I'm not using jzlib properly:
if (deflater.deflate(JZlib.Z_SYNC_FLUSH) != JZlib.Z_OK)
throw new SSLException("compression failed");
I'm not sure what the problem is, but maybe the 'encrypt' routine can
be instrumented a little to diagnose what error jzlib is hitting.
