...except that you probably actually want
`(nnml ... (nnml-active-file ,(concat my-nnml-directory ...)))
so that, in the result, the cdr of the cons cell whose car is
'nnml-active-file is the result of the concat call, not the list
'(concat "/nnml/directory/name" "stuff").
