`F' (`gnus-group-find-new-groups') in the Group buffer. See also
(info "(gnus)New Groups").
You can also enter the server buffer (`^' from the Group buffer), find
the archive server there and subscribe the groups.

The face in the article buffer? --> `M-x customize-face
gnus-signature-face RET'. For the message buffer, there's no such
possibility (at least no predefined).
