RSVP Free Telephony Summit

The 2001 Free Telephony Summit will be held January 22nd from 5PM
to 7PM at the offices of Via.net, in Palo Alto, California (directions at the
end of this message). This summit is open to the public and all are
welcome. (However, we ask that you please R.S.V.P. If the number of
attendees's exceeds via.net capacity (likely) we will head next door to a
larger space.)

This gathering will include those involved in the Bayonne project,
as well as people from other free telephony projects, including
pre-Viking. At the summit we will cover numerous issues related to
development and inter-operability among free telephony software
projects, as well as covering current and future plans for some of these
projects:

Current state of free telephony
Applications and architecture
VOIP integration and interoperability
Introduction of interoperabale telephony billing services
Driver design and abstraction layers
Integration with proprietary software
Ease of use
Future directions for Bayonne and other projects

This will be a good opportunity to meet various people working on
free telephony projects, to provide your input to the Bayonne
developers, and learn about the present and future for free telephony
software in general.

******* Please R.S.V.P. to Rich Bodo address@hidden 650-964-4678 *******

After Summit Party:

After the summit we will head next door to the GeekSpace for the
2nd annual GS party (Starting 7:00PM) where, in addition to food and drink
there will be conversation with people interested in coding, classic
video games (several classic games are there), amateur rocketry,
comics, telecommunications, Linux, BSD, music, physics, and other
topics of geeky fascination. The GS party will go on until there is
no one left to talk to, at which point everyone will be home chatting
on IRC.

Directions:

The best way to get to 994 San Antonio Rd. Palo Alto, CA is to take
Highway 101. Unfortunately, Highway 101 is very busy all the
time! This means that you should leave early. From San Francisco,
allow 90 minutes. From San Jose, 60 minutes.

>From Highway 101 North
----------------------
Take 101 N to the San Antonio exit, which terminates at a stop light.
Take a left at the stop light on to San Antonio heading west, towards Mountain
View. You will pass over 101. You will need to make a U-turn
at the first stop light you come to, at the corner of San Antonio and
Charleston.

Immediately after the U-turn (5 to 10 yards from the light), San Antonio
Road branches off to the right (there is a small sign that says
frontage road at the branch, hardly noticable). Follow the branch to
the right.

After about two hundred yards you will see 994 San Antonio Road.
The front of the building has signs for Via Net, LPPI, Avistar, and a little
OST sign in the Via Net window.

If you have trouble en route, give us a call at (650)964-4678.

>From Highway 101 South
----------------------
Take 101 S to Palo Alto and exit at the San Antonio Rd. exit.
The exit will put you on San Antonio heading west, towards Mountain
View. You want to get into the left hand lane.
