Gary Kasparov's new match

Hi,

Here's an entertaining article about Gary Kasparov that
appeared on MSNBC this evening. Note the difference in
raw computing power between Deep Blue and the
current PC-based challenger is 70-1 in Deep Blue's favor.

Many have tried to explain Deep Blue as just a number
cruncher but the book "Inside Deep Blue" shows that
it had vast quantities of easily changeable knowledge
surpassing any PC. This knowledge was embedded in
and downloadable at the VLSI level.

PC programmers won't admit this and since they don't
have access to the chip design schematics and software
only disparage Deep Blue's knowledge while extoling its
search-speed whereas in actuality both were superb.

Deep Blue was decades ahead of its time. This current
match should be fun but I expect GK to beat this weaker
computer.

Here's the article. Enjoy. --Stuart
