Hello,
Please bear with me, I just took on a new job and been handed the
responsibilities of managing a CVS server... while I am busy reading to
'learn', I've had a user call with a problem.
The user is using the Eclipse client to access CVS (whatever that means
:-) ).
As this is a CVS list and not an Eclipse list, you probably would find better
information as to what Eclipse "syntax" means to CVS on an Eclipse list.
http://www.eclipse.org/
http://www.eclipse.org/mail/
http://www.eclipse.org/mail/index_project.php
http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.tools/msg60428.html
She can login to CVS and browse all of the projects... no
problem.
However, she says that in the past she could see previous
versions of her projects, but she can no long do this.
What does she mean by "see previous versions of her projects"?
[Check out sand boxes based on tags?] (a problem here may mean a corrupted
cvs archive, you may want to run the check_cvs script from the contrib
directory just in case.)
[view previous versions of individual files?] (this might be a problem with
just the client, but check_cvs might still be advised.)
and
What does she mean by "she can't see previous versions of her projects", i.e.,
are there error messages and if so what are those messages (and if you can
tell, were the errors CVS or eclipse generated)?
BTW if you get error messages, please copy and paste exactly. Having messages
that just convey the theme of the error, are difficult to track down as to A)
which application generated them, and B) what they actually mean.
user, project and machine names, in the error, may be scrubbed (replaced with
things like myuser, myprojectpath, mymachine) for reasons of disclosure if you
really need/want to, but keep the rest of the error pristine.
Is this a client configuration problem? A server problem? I want to
help this lady, however... I have no idea where to begin.
See above links and questions, to get started.
Again, I apologize if this is an elementary question.
You have currently provided insufficient information to answer the question,
so it is not _yet_ elementary. :)
