while it's certainly a good point, it doesn't address the real
problem. that was just an example from a real-life situation. one more
would be considering the different versions of mysql that the two
computers might be using. since that -- as well as the passwords
needed to connect to them and the files they're stored in -- is not
solely what a web project is about, it has the right to reside inside
the tree. it's only a part, albeit an important one, but the structure
of the whole project should not be broken because of these minor
differences. that would make it even more difficult to administer.
