If you have write permissions in the directories, on the server, that you want
to commit to... Yes.
will i going to crash the server....
It should not. If you are getting error messages at this point please copy and
paste all of them for the command EXACTLY as you got them into a message to
this group, it would help in figuring out what problem you are having.
So after you try to commit, everyone starts getting, unknown to the mailing
list, error messages???
If I do above..... will other user/or myself can't checking in /out...
I think you may be having problems with your user interface (aka Tortoise),
and questions about it are better answered on it's mailing list. I would
suggest first searching through their archive and then subscribing to the
tortoisecvs-users mailing list and ask your questions there. Also you
should probably take a look at their website and FAQ.

Subject: Re: cvs pserver problems
can a cvs client on window crash the cvs server on linux machine,if yes
then what precaution we have to take care...
By what means?
What do you mean by crash?
I think the general answer is, if you can make it actually crash (i.e.,
receive signal 11, or otherwise core dump) the group would like to hear
it can be fixed, that kind of thing is very unusual for cvs. For most
you get an error message for (like goman's question) the reason is a
misconfiguration of either the client or the server which is causing them
fail to communicate.
if you think the cvs server exiting with an error message is crashing,
1) you have a strange notion of a software crash.
2) the precaution you should take is to read the manual and understand
Why did you quote goman, but ask a somewhat different question?
BTW the general answer to goman's question is in the FAQ and
