I know there are messages in this group describing a known problem with
this same message. However, I am beyond the CVS version that this was
fixed in and my situation is not the same.
In the known probelm this error message is encountered at the end of a
very large checkout.
In my situation this message is occuring at the very beginning of a
checkout of a very small module.
I am running:
CVS : 1.11.17 (client/server)
OS : Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 4 (Nahant Update 1)
CVS authentication by pserver
I have a build script that has been working without problem for 3
months. It
1. Tags 3 modules
2. Performs a checkout on the three modules by the new tag
One of the modules is very large, and I put it at the end of the three.
If either of the other two small modules is checked out first, the
about 50% of the time I get:
Protocol error: uncounted data discarded
When I see this, if I immediately run again it works.
The script has not recently been modified in this area (the tagging and
checkout area), except to try to debug this problem.
Any idea what could be the root cause of this?
Thanks
Mark
