It doesn't really matter whether a branch is rooted on the trunk or
another branch, the performance should be the same. However, the RCS
file format that CVS uses makes performance dependent on the distance
between the head of the trunk and the revision being worked on, so
performance is usually much better on the trunk than on branches.
