How do I check the CPS (connections per second) parameter
setting for inetd?
We are facing this problem on the same machine after every few days! We
are unable to understand why the problem re-occurs on the same machine,
although there are a lot many other machines on the network that connect
to the CVS Server.

Can anybody, help us with these queries?

Could you be hitting the CPS (Connections per second)
throttling in inetd ?

If you have a bursty traffic to CVS server and you hit it with large
number of connections, that may cause inetd to shutdown some

Check your CPS setting.
