Ignore dirs/no-ext-files

Hi

Is it possible with .cvsignore/CVSIGNORE/cvswrapper to ignore a directory?
Or are these only applied on the single file names? e.g. ignore bin/* or
something?
And as other variant: Can I make a rule for files without extension? *. or
just * didn't work.
