Is this everything? Is there a better way?
Make a private repository with just the module you are interested in and
blow the whole thing away when you are done. That way there's no chance you
will accidently mess up your production repository.
For example, if you want to experiment with features on the foo module...
mkdir temproot
cp -r $CVSROOT/CVSROOT deleteme
cp -r $CVSROOT/foo deleteme
setenv CVSROOT `pwd`/deleteme
cvs co foo CVSROOT
... hack away ...
rm -rf deleteme
Note that if someone was updating foo or CVSROOT while you were copying,
then you might get some weirdness, but you can recover by starting over.
