yes (it's slackware)
I thought most Linux systems used xinetd.

You need to change the ~ray/cvsroot to /home/ray/cvsroot before it will
work, but that wouldn't cause the connection to be refused. Make sure
you restarted inetd and check your syslog for error messages.

Just set your CVSROOT to use pserver mode:
CVSROOT=:pserver:address@hidden:/home/ray/cvsroot
interesting. i tried "ext" and make some progress.
i will check "pserver" out also.
