What are you expecting it to do? If you want to see log messages
between two dates, you need to do:
cvs log -d'D1<D2'
If you want all the messages on a particular day, you need to do
something like:
cvs log -d'D1 00:00:00 utc < D1 23:59:59 utc'
You can get rid of some (but not all) of the overhead with -N.
