It wasn't until after I had read the entirer Cederqvist manual and
started taking advantage of features like tags and branches that I
felt a need to know 'where I was'; and when I followed the advice
of this esteemed ng/list (namely, Thou Shalt Not Use Revision Ids
For Human Consumption Under Any Circumstances) it merely became more
pronounced.

The fact that some poor developer who would revert back to PKZip if
told they had to read Cederqvist before using CVS is having problems
is merely icing on my cake, and not really relevent to the "wouldn't
it be nice if..." thinking.

Or does everyone else do a "cvs status $file; cvs log $file | less"
before editing a file, and I'm just whining?

I think you're just suffering from Notepad nvi. With a little vim and
vigor, you can overcome that. -- Paul Tomblin (August 1999)
