CVS and Soft Links do not play well together. In particular, they don't exist on some platforms on which CVS runs (how do you do a proper soft-link under Win32?) (there are other reasons, ask Mr. Woods). That sort of thing is probably best done with either post-update/post-checkout scripts, or possibly using ampersand modules.
