Is there a way to delete old revisions from an archive file?

It is not me, but the person handling nightly builds.  So he has files that
get updated daily, with some of these having almost 400 rev's (one per
night) and growing.

Yes, but why would you want to get rid of revisions.  They
are a history of the file and the changes that went into
them.
