Consequences of removing a branch tag

Hi,

I was wondering about the consequences of removing
a branch tag with cvs tag -d. What happens to all the
revisions on that branch - do they get deleted as
well.

For example I have a file with the following version
history
        1.2.2.1----1.2.2.2------1.2.2.3 (Branch_1)
         | (patch_1)
         |
1.1-----1.2-------1.3------1.4 (Head)

The branch Branch_1 originates from 1.2. Also there is
a static tag at version 1.2.2.2 called patch_1

What happens when I delete Branch_1, is information
about the three revisions on that branch also removed
from the RCS file. Can I check out the revisions on
that branch. Can I check in new changes to that branch

Thanks

Shubho
