I would first *copy* all of your working area containing
the repository-deleted files to a backup area.

Next, I'd suggest using import - select the directory in
your working area containing the repository-deleted
files and set the path on the remote server as the
start of the deleted repository tree. WinCVS should
ignore the CVS subdirectories on import.

This will create archives in the repository; of course,
each archive will contain only a single revision - you've
lost any revision information by having deleted the original
archives.

Since the CVS/Entries information for your original
working area is probably invalid (since the base revisions
and times for repository-deleted files have changed),
checkout to a brand new working area and verify
that the files were imported correctly.

Good luck,
(and stay out of that repository!)

David Martin

Subject: recover deleted files

Hi,
I have a question, there's a folder that consists some files and some sub
folders in CVS server under linux. But some of files and
sub folders in the Main Folder deleted manually accidently. But the source
still available in my local drive. From Win CVS client i
saw the sub folders and those files still checked(means it still part of CVS)
but in the CVSserver, its already deleted. And i wanna
replace the deleted files to the CVS server using WIN CVS, but the add button
is disable. how can i recofer the deleted files ???

thx,
a Java Addicted
