What goes wrong?

You can if you have the GNU versions of find and xargs:

        find . -print0 | xargs -0 ...

(Actually, all you need is GNU xargs:

        find . -print | tr '\n' '\0' | xargs -0 ...

although various versions of tr have slightly different syntaxes, so you
might have to fool around a bit to get exactly the right incantation.)
