What OS and environment?  Would clocks being out of sync, or changing
somewhere along the line cause this?

Maybe for some reason the time stamp on the repository is greater than the
time stamp listed in CVS/Entries or it got munged some how?  Though I
thought it went by revision number anyway, so that doesn't make sense.
