I fixed the default so you do not need to use --enable-oldest-abi any more.
Just --enable-libio will make 2.2.6 the default. I have a fix similar to
Marcus's to make --enable-oldest-abi work, but there may be other problems
with that switch too. Anyway it was only a temporary thing that you should
use it.
